Despite its name, it's really a japanese restaurant + 2/3 korean restaurant. Not sure why they don't advertise it more as a korean restaurant, since there would be no competition for it! There are only two other japanese restaurants on the same block (not to mention the dozens of others in the area) and almost NO korean restaurants on the peninsula -- certainly none in san mateo. They serve many of the non-BBQ korean staples like dolsot bi bim bap, jap chae and hay-mul pajun, in addition to a full japanese menu with sushi bar. I settled on the nabeyaki udon this time. It was good but not special and left me wanting to try the korean next time around. They have a big sushi bar and a large 2nd dining area. I wonder if that's for the Sunday Football parties given their big screen TV. OK, it was stuck on a cooking channel, but a guy can dream... bi bim bap, cold bottles of OB, Football
